Type Locality and Naming
S3 (?)-D1 (12), Early Devonian
Western South Tianshan. The type section is located at the medium to upper reaches of Biedaile River of Wushi County, Xinjiang. It was named by Xinjiang No. 3 Team of Regional Geological Survey in 1961, and was published by "The Regional Scale of Northwest China-Xinjiang” in 1981.
Lithology and Thickness
Phyllite. The group is characterized by gray, grayish-green and purplish-red phyllite and schistose siltstone intercalated with a few fine- to medium-grained quartz sandstone and limestone. The exposed thickness ranges from 800 to 3000 m.

Lower contact
The base does not outcrop.
Upper contact
The top conformably underlies the Tuogemaiti Fm of Middle Devonian.
Regional extent
This group is distributed in south side of Kuokeshale hill.
